Step-by-Step Fitting Guide

Because the factory pillars on the 120 Series are highly textured or porous once weathered, proper surface preparation is the only way to ensure the pieces do not fly off on the highway.

1. Strip Contaminants: Clean the factory door pillars thoroughly using Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). You must strip away all accumulated road grime, detailing wax, and silicon-based trim restorers.

2. Dry Alignment Test: Before peeling off the red 3M protective adhesive backing, hold each piece up to its corresponding pillar. The pieces are specifically shaped for the left vs. right side and front vs. back doors.

3. Thermal Activation: Use a hair dryer or heat gun to gently warm the 3M tape on the back of the trim pieces, as well as the vehicle’s door frame. Warming the adhesive significantly increases its initial tack and long-term bond strength.

4. Press Safely: Align the bottom edge first, roll the piece upward into place, and press firmly along the entire surface for 30–60 seconds.

5. Peel Transport Film: If you purchased Gloss Black or Chrome pieces, peel off the clear, protective plastic transit film from the front face to reveal the final unblemished shine.

6. Cure Time: Keep the vehicle completely dry and avoid automated car washes for at least 24 hours to allow the chemical adhesive bond to reach full strength.
